Build the Woman Who Can Create Wealth
I know money is good, I believe financial independence matters, and I believe every woman should learn how to earn, manage, grow and steward money wisely. I also believe we have done a great disservice to this generation by making money appear to be the ultimate measure of success. Money can give you access, but wisdom teaches you what to do with access. Money can open a door, but wisdom helps you know which doors to enter. Money can build a house, but wisdom helps you build a life.
As a woman who is on a journey to know herself, build herself and become more confident, I want you to understand this: you are not only building a bank account; you are building capacity. The woman who can create value, solve problems, make sound decisions and steward opportunities will always have something valuable to contribute.
Where there is no vision, there is no hope.
Vision gives you something to build toward, but wisdom helps you navigate the journey.
One struggle, I see among young women and i have also experienced is the pressure to look successful while still trying to figure themselves out. You may be watching women your age launch businesses, travel, buy homes, get married, advance in their careers and build impressive online brands. Meanwhile, you are still asking yourself, Who am I? What am I good at? What do I want? What should I be doing with my life? This can make you feel behind.
However, you do not have to rush into a version of success that you are not prepared to sustain. You need wisdom to build a life that can carry the opportunities you desire.
Your goal should not only be to have more. Your goal should be to become more. When you become more knowledgeable, discerning, skilled, emotionally intelligent and intentional, you increase your capacity to create value.
Anything that creates meaningful value can create wealth, so invest in your wealth of wisdom. Invest in knowledge, books, technology, credible information, apprenticeship and mentorship. Invest in communities and experiences that expand your thinking. Invest in learning how the world works and, more importantly, learning how you work.
3 Ways to Build Your Wealth of Wisdom
1. Become a Serious Student of Life
I encourage you to become intentional about what you consume. Read books that challenge your thinking. Learn new skills and follow people who have expertise in areas you want to grow. Take courses, a sk questions and study your industry. Understand money, learn tech, communication and leadership. Do not consume information simply because it is popular. Learn to discern what is useful, credible and relevant to your journey. Your mind is an asset, and what you consistently put into it will eventually influence the decisions you make.
2. Build a Circle That Expands You
You cannot build a great life in isolation.
I have learned that the quality of counsel around you can influence the quality of decisions you make. You need people who can challenge your thinking, tell you the truth, introduce you to possibilities and hold you accountable.
John Maxwell said, “One is too small a number to achieve greatness.”
I believe this wholeheartedly. Find others who are growing, find mentors who have walked paths you want to explore. Build friendships where you can have honest conversations. Join communities where you are challenged to think bigger and become better. Do not only look for people who make you comfortable. Look for those who make you think.
3. Turn Knowledge Into Practice
Wisdom is not simply knowing more.
Wisdom is knowing what to do with what you know. You can read one hundred books and remain unchanged if you never apply what you have learned. You can attend countless conferences and still remain stuck if you refuse to act. Take what you learn and practice it.
If you learn about money, create a budget.
If you learn about leadership, take responsibility.
If you learn about communication, improve how you speak and listen. If you learn about yourself, make decisions that align with what you now know. Knowledge becomes wisdom when it is applied and applied wisdom becomes capacity.
The life you build today shapes your legacy tomorrow.
I want you to think beyond immediate gratification. Think about the woman you are becoming and the people who will benefit from her growth. Your wealth should not only be something you possess. It should include your wisdom, relationships, skills, character, knowledge, experiences and capacity to create value. Money is good but wisdom is better because wisdom teaches you how to create, multiply, protect and steward what you have.
So, as you build your life, build yourself first then watch what you become capable of building.
