One hurdle you should know about purpose is that the moment you decide to become more intentional, more disciplined, more courageous, and more aligned with your destiny, opposition often appears.
Suddenly, distractions increase, fear becomes louder, confusion rises and opportunities that once looked clear suddenly become blurry.
Many people mistakenly think this means they are on the wrong path. Sometimes, resistance is not a sign to stop, it is a sign that you are on the right path.
As a woman on a journey of purposeful living, you must learn to differentiate between correction and distraction.
Before you panic, quit, or retreat, first check yourself.
Are you aligned?
Are your actions aligned with your values?
Are your decisions aligned with the vision God placed in your heart?
Are you pursuing purpose or simply chasing validation?
This is because alignment matters. One thing I have learned as an identity and leadership coach is that not every difficult season means you missed your way. Some seasons are tests of conviction, stretching seasons preparing you with the capacity required for your next level.
Small disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great achievements gained slowly over time
Excitement alone cannot sustain purpose, it requires discipline, conviction, and alignment.
If you travelling from Lagos to Abuja by road and clearly know your destination, you will not jump out of the bus every time the road becomes rough. In fact, anyone familiar with Nigerian roads understands that some rough patches are expected before reaching a meaningful destination.
The bumps do not cancel the journey neither does the traffic erase the destination. What matters most is being on the right road. This is how purpose works.
Many women abandon destiny-defining assignments because resistance was interpreted as rejection. The moment opposition comes, they begin to doubt themselves, shrink, or return to familiar patterns because comfort feels safer than growth
Growth will always challenge the old version of you.
A woman who is becoming cannot think like the woman she used to be.
A leader cannot continue operating from fear, insecurity, and constant people-pleasing. A purpose-driven woman cannot build an extraordinary life while remaining attached to ordinary thinking.
When opposition comes, self-awareness is important, first, examine yourself honestly.
Are you emotionally healthy?
Are your motives pure?
Are you acting from wisdom or ego?
Are you building according to your values?
Alignment breeds confidence in difficult seasons.
Knowing who you are exposes distractions easily and not every invitation deserves your attention. Not every relationship deserves access to your energy and not every opportunity is connected to your assignment. Clarity protects purpose.
Secondly, extraordinary decisions often attract extraordinary resistance. The moment you decide to heal, the temptation to return to unhealthy habits increases.
The moment you decide to become disciplined, distractions multiply.
The moment you decide to evolve, people who benefited from your smaller version may become uncomfortable.
Do not be surprised by opposition.
Prepare for it.
Strengthen your mind.
Strengthen your identity.
Strengthen your systems.
Strengthen your spiritual and emotional health. Purpose demands a stable version of you to emerge and this is where many women lose momentum. They become so focused on external opposition that they forget internal stability. Yet internal conviction is what sustains external impact.
Myles Munroe wisely said, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without purpose.”
You were not created to spend your life shrinking to fit into environments that do not honor your growth.
You were not created to bury your gifts because the journey became uncomfortable. You were created to live above your potential and you were created with intention.
Purpose requires courage, which is not the absence of fear. Courage is continuing despite fear. If you are currently facing resistance after making a destiny-defining decision, pause and reflect before giving up.
– Check your alignment
– Return to your values
– Reconnect with your vision
– Seek wisdom
– Strengthen your discipline
When you discover that you are truly aligned, do not give in and do not give up.
